29 Months

We are succeeding! After the trip to SoCal, Edward wants to be like Cousin Hazel, so we have had very few accidents since we got back. He hasn’t gotten to the point where he tells us before he goes, but he does tell us when he goes. Sometimes he even takes himself to the bathroom! Mostly though, I just try to make sure I always take him when I go or before we start a new activity. We are still in disposable diapers for bed, but I haven’t used a cloth diaper on him in almost a month! (Which means I haven’t washed them in that long either!) Other than that, he is picking up tons of terms and is learning in leaps and bounds. He loves to sing his ABC’s (or as he likes to call them “ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP’s”) and Twinkle Twinkle. He is getting really good at building up block towers to knock them down. He is learning a lot of words and his legs have almost completely straightened. He is starting to outgrow his 3T clothes and we are starting to put him in 4T. The red flannel (his halloween costume) is actually a size 5. Sad face when I realized he fit into clothes that weren’t toddler size. I know it is a little to big on him, but it won’t be for long. He is starting to get picky in what he eats. His main meal lately has been Oatmeal with Blueberries. He would eat that every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I let him. He also loves to eat his raw bell peppers, corn and fruit leathers. He likes candy and gummy bears are his favorite, but he would rather have oatmeal with blueberries.

For his birthday, his Great-Grandma Natalie got Edward a fingerprint art kit. Since we have had a bunch of luck with “messy” activities lately, Darrell brought it out and they played with it during Darrell’s free time. They both enjoyed playing with drawing animals with their fingerprints and using the stamps to decorate.

Halloween

We weren’t sure how Edward would handle Halloween. We tried to see if he would wear a costume and we had pretty much no luck with it at all. We finally got him to wear some of his normal clothes and called him “Daddy”. We decided to go ahead and head down to our old neighborhood. The park across the street always does a Halloween in the park where they have about 10 stations around the small path in the park for the kids to “trick-or-treat” around and then they have the playground and at the playground, they serve hot apple cider for everyone. It is a cute and fun event. We took Edward when he was almost 5 months old, but we didn’t dress him up or anything. At first, he wasn’t so sure and held tightly to Daddy’s hand. By the end though, he was happy to go up and take some candy on his own (even though he immediately ran right back to Daddy).

After we played at the park, we headed home. Our plans were to maybe hand out some candy but we don’t normally get that many trick-or-treaters. So, I stayed home to hand out candy and Darrell and Edward went out in the neighborhood. Darrell said that there were a lot more people doing it this year and Edward came home with a full bucket. He was super excited and jazzed! When I took him upstairs to get ready for bed, I asked him “So, do you like Halloween now?”. His response? “No, but I like candy!” Gotta love that boy!

Slime

With what a big thing fingerpainting was with Edward, I decided to go ahead and make some slime for him. Boy oh boy did he love that! It kept the toddler boy busy for almost 2 hours. Just pulling it around and feeling it in his hands and all over the place. I will probably make a bit more later once I get more ingredients.

CWU trip

Our alma mater had a football game at CWU and since the whole band wasn’t coming up, there was an alumni contingent who went ahead and went out to see the game and play. We headed over the mountains to Ellensburg and spent some time with friends. We were of course late because of Edward. However, even getting there late, the football team rocked and won hardcore! And the small but mighty band rocked as well. We were definitely overshadowed by the other band and they didn’t really let us get much playing in, but we still played.
