We had a quiet low-key Easter at home. The day before, we took the boys outside and let them dye the eggs. Morgan loved putting the eggs in the different colors and Edward loved trying to figure out which color combos he could play with. It was a lot of fun and of course, a couple eggs got broken.

On Easter Morning, the boys both woke up around 6:30am which is completely unheard of in this household. hahaha. Edward just came and crawled into bed with Daddy and I. Morgan, however, quietly snuck downstairs to check things out. He came back upstairs with an egg he had found and asked me to open it. I let him eat the pack of peanuts that were in the egg while I finished waking up and then I took the boys downstairs to check out everything. The boys loved their Easter baskets and even more, they loved the egg hunt. Edward had eggs hidden in the living room and Morgan had eggs hidden in the playroom. After they found their dozen eggs, they got to open them all and eat what they wanted.

After Darrel woke up, I made some pancakes for breakfast. I made some bunny tails pancakes. All the boys liked them. Though I made them way too big, so we took the head and ears off of everyones and saved those for a later meal. In the afternoon, Morgan wanted us to hide the eggs for him to find about 4 times. Then later, we hid some outside for them to find. Morgan loved it and asked for a few days for the eggs to be hidden for him. Darrell had a couple friends from his UCSC college years come by to visit, so I made a couple batches of homemade pizza dough and put out a slew of toppings so we could all make personal pizzas. They were a big hit. We finished the day out with a homemade carrot cake and the boys got a glow-stick bath.

We finished the year with our trip to downtown Seattle which we have done every year since Morgan was born. We took it easy and didn’t do everything we normally do. We still had fun and some special family time.

Our overall December was pretty chill. We still did some things, but we took it easy after the trip to California. We still went to the zoo, decorated for Christmas, had friends over to decorate gingerbread cookies/houses, did our polar express night, attended Snowflake Lane and celebrated Christmas.

We took the boys to Legoland as an early Christmas present. We stayed at the Legoland Hotel for two days and did the park for both days. My mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law, and niece all came with us. It was an amazing experience and both boys really enjoyed it. Edward got to ride all of the rides which made him super happy. Morgan got to ride a lot of the rides and was really happy just running around. Both of them were sooo worn out at the end of the day that they were asleep within minutes of their heads hitting the pillows. We had anticipated that it would be really busy since it was a Saturday and Sunday, but it was actually pretty quiet. A lot of the rides were so quiet that we got to ride them multiple times without having to get out. I think the longest wait time we had was about 15 minutes. Overall, we all enjoyed our weekend and Darrell has even said he would be willing to go back. Next time we would probably try to get to the park much earlier each day. My only big complaint was that most of the restaurants in the hotel closed fairly quickly after the park closed, so there wasn’t much time to do anything after the park if you stayed until close.

Easter 2018

For Easter this year, we had originally planned on having a few people over for dinner et al, but of course, the boys came down with a cold the day before, so we ended up canceling. Darrell’s mom joined us and one of Darrell’s coworkers came over. They usually play Magic on Sunday’s, so it just fit in. The night before, we went ahead and colored our easter eggs. Morgan really loved it. He kept trying to get the eggs and throw them into the cups or crack them on the table. A lot of the time was spent with Darrell and I wrangling him away from breaking everything. Edward of course loved coloring the eggs and kept talking about all the different things he wanted to do.

Then day of we hung out, and the kids got their Easter baskets. They got some fun summer stuff to enjoy this year. Later, the big kids played Magic, we did an egg hunt, and I made dinner and a cake.
