Birthday Party

We had a great birthday party for our little man. It had a Goldfish Theme since it was Edward’s Golden Birthday (He turned two on the 2nd). It was a nice little gathering and once again, I overdid myself, but I am super happy with how things turned out.

We did a baked potato bar. It was quick and easy since we had a crowd and wanted something easy that we didn’t have to keep focusing on.

Desserts. I made a carrot cake and a red velvet cake with cheesecake filling and some chocolate cake pops:

Grammy Visits

Grammy came out to visit shortly before Edward’s party and was able to spend Ā some time with him. Edward and her had lots of fun playing, singing and dancing. I don’t know who wore who out faster. I think Edward might of won, but it was sure close.

Guess Grammy won this round.

Grammy brought a lot of Cherries over from Eastern Washington, so I got to spend a chunk of time pitting cherries.

Poleeko

So last Wednesday night, May 27, there was a miscommunication in our house and our front door got left open for about 3 hours. Darrell is the one who noticed and found Zedd outside in the front garden. Poleeko was not to be found. I spent awhile wandering around calling his name. About 11:30 pm, I opened the front door and noticed him under our neighbor’s porch. I went outside to try to coerce him inside and then Darrell went around so we couldĀ try to chase him back into the house. Poleeko just flipped out and bounded along the side of the house and over the blackberry bushes into the wooded area behind the house. That was the last we saw of him. About 1:30am, there was a big cat fight outside and that was it. We haven’t seen Poleeko or heard him since. We have been looking at the shelters and what not, but we are pretty sure that he will not be coming home. So as sad as I am, I feel super sad for Zedd. He spent the first few days yowling at the windows and then he spent a few more days moping around. He is slowly adjusting to being the only cat.

So, here are some of my favorite photos that we have of Poleeko:

I really miss this guy. Now we can leave things out and they don’t disappear underneath our bed. He really was my cat and he loved to be near me. I hope that he found somewhere safe even though my rational brain says that he didn’t make it.

Birthday!!

For Edward’s Birthday, we had a big, busy day planned out. It was a lot of fun and Edward seemed to enjoy it.

It started in the morning when we put balloon’s up on his door so he opened his door to balloons. He loved this and would probably have spent the entire day playing with the balloons on the door.

IMG_1471IMG_1482Unfortunately, we needed to get going because the big 2 year old had a dentist appointment first thing.

IMG_1487IMG_0358

He had a great dentist appointment and was super good. The nurses and dentist all complemented him on how well he did for a two year old. Since it was his birthday, they let him pick out two prizes instead of just one. Then off we went. We headed over to the Alderwood Mall and Edward spent a few hours hanging out and playing. After a couple hours, we went to the Froyo place next to the play area and Mommy and Baby got some Froyo.

After the Mall, we had to make a quick trip down to Bellevue to check on Uncle Kenny since no one could get ahold of him. On our way back from Bellevue, someone was so tired that he took a little nap.

Mommy let him finish napping in the car when we got home. After nap, we had lunch which included presents! Darrell came down and ate with us so we let Edward open one gift. He got a Duplo Lego Ambulance from Mommy and Daddy.

We spent the afternoon playing with the ambulance and all of his other Duplos. After Daddy finished work, we opened the rest of the presents. Some rain boots from Mommy & Daddy, some puzzles and clothes from Aunt Carole and Uncle Sean, and a puzzle and book from Aunt Roslyn, Uncle Tom and Cousin Anders.

Of course, since it was raining outside, first thing he wanted to do was put on his boots and head outside to play with them.

IMG_1557IMG_1561

After Dinner that night, Mommy made some Molten Lava Chocolate Cake. We put a couple candles in and sang to Edward and he blew them out before we even got started singing.

IMG_1574

After cake, we needed to use up some energy, so Edward and Daddy chased each other around the house.

IMG_1579IMG_1580

About half an hour of running around the house, we started the quieting down stage of the night. This night, Edward chose music with Daddy. So Edward got his drum and Daddy got his instruments and they played some music together.

Then it was time for bed. After a very busy day, the birthday boy got into his pajama’s, brushed his teeth, crawled in bed and Daddy read him a book. Good night to ourĀ little two year old!

24 months

IMG_1320

Edward is 2 years today! Where has the time gone!?!?!?!?!? He is talking in mostly coherent sentences and is expressing his feelings dramatically. He loves to play at the playground and hang out with older kids. I am just amazed that my little boy from this post is now a big 2 year old. He loves to play with his toys. His favorite toys are his puzzles and helping Daddy do things with his tools. He is also obsessed with bicycles. He has stopped taking naps since he sleeps 12-14 hours at night. Unfortunately, mommy still needs the downtime, so we end up watching TV in bed while mommy relaxes. Edward watches Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and absolutely loves it. He sings along with all of the songs. He is slowly learning different songs. He sings “Old MacDonald,” “ABC’s,” and a few other’s.
