Zoo Trip

We finally renewed our zoo memberships and took another trip to the zoo. Edward was way more mobile than he was last time. Last time we went to the zoo was back in July when Edward was just starting to walk, so he didn’t actually run very far from us. This time, he didn’t want to do anything we wanted to do. We would try to go one way and Edward would run another. All in all, it was a blast and we spent a great afternoon with some good friends.

Lately, the mom’s group I am in have been doing some hikes on Saturday, so we have been getting out and enjoying these lovely spring days we have been having. We did another hike at Paradise Valley, and today, we did a hike in Shoreline area. We loved them both. At the end of the hike in Shoreline, we hung out and let Edward play on the play structures. He had a blast and was sooooo mad at us for making him leave. 🙂

For those who know Darrell, he commonly refers to Valentine’s Day as ‘Single Awareness Day.’ Therefore, very rarely do I ever get anything and I am ok with that. This year, he surprised me. On thursday night, he left for bagpipes like normal. He was late coming home, but that happens sometimes. This time, after I went to bed, he did some stuff downstairs and then came up and brought me a rose and a pound chocolate bar. He told me that was his gift but it was early since he wouldn’t get a chance to go out again before Saturday. When I woke up on Friday morning, I went downstairs and he had put little peanut butter cups around the house (where I could get them but not Edward) and then a trail leading to the rest of the bouquet of flowers. Very surprising for me. 🙂 So throughout the day on Friday, I would go to do something and I would find another peanut butter cup. (I’m still finding some on Saturday evening) Then he went ahead and surprised me even further by giving me another box of chocolates on Saturday that he had kept hidden in his bagpipe case. So I spent the last few days feeling very loved. 🙂 Then I felt mildly bad that I only got him a card. (Well, two.. one from me and one from Edward)

So we just spent the rest of today as a family and enjoyed our time together. We went for a hike at the Paradise Valley Conservation Area. We did about a 2.5 mile leisurely hike around and just wandered. It was our first time there and it was great. Edward had fun and enjoyed the fact that he was able to walk for a good portion of it. I love my family!

Cousins!

In December, we went back down to San Diego for another sisters wedding. While we were down there, Edward got to spend a good portion of his time with his cousin Hazel. He loved following her and doing things that she did. He learned a lot of new things…. some good, some bad. 🙂 All in all though, he had a blast!

Edward

I know I am a few months behind. Edward has been growing and doing things in leaps and bounds. He is now speaking a bunch. I actually don’t want to try to figure them all out because then he finds some new ones. He is running around and is completely in love with all sports balls. Basketball, Football and Soccer are his favs. He is jumping and able to get both feet off the ground and then land without falling over. His taste buds are starting to show themselves. I don’t know exactly what we did, but there have been many meals in the last few weeks where we offer him a pasta or pizza or something and all he wants is raw bell pepper strips. He LOVES his veggies. Granted, he also loves his chocolate. 😛

Edward has started showing an interest in potty training. We are at about 60-70% trained on going poop in the potty, but that’s about it. He tells us when he has to go and then we go spend some time on the toilet. We are letting him go at his own pace. It is nice that I am only changing about 3-4 poopy diapers a week.

Edward has also decided that he didn’t want to sleep in his crib anymore. So we transitioned his crib to a toddler bed. That lasted all of like 2 weeks before he wasn’t even sleeping in that. So we went ahead and searched craigslist and found a boat bed for free. Edward loves it! He spends a lot of time jumping on his bed, but he stays in his room.
