We found a place fairly quickly here in Seattle, but if wasn’t available for us to move in until April 15. We crashed at Lorna’s friends summer house and then with my Uncle Kenny while we waited for move-in. When we finally had everything set up, we ended up signing the lease in the morning and the truck and some movers arrived that afternoon. So by that evening, we had a bed set up so we could sleep and had started to unpack the kitchen. Our goal was to get a decent amount of the unpacking done before we drove back to Sandpoint to pick up the cats.

On the left is of our house and on the right is of a playground that we can see from our window. The pictures were taken from the same spot, just facing different directions:

After the truck was unloaded and we were beginning our unpacking:

We finally got the crib set up in Edward’s room. That was a big deal for us as we never got one for Pixel. Then while I was unpacking things in the bedroom, I was just tossing the empty boxes down the stairs forgetting I couldn’t bend down to pick them back up. So I had to text Darrell to come move them so I could get down the stairs. 🙂

We got a decent amount done, so on Saturday after our birthing class, we headed out to Sandpoint to pick up the cats.

This is a view over a lake about halfway between Seattle and Sandpoint.

When we got to Sandpoint, the cats were happy to see us and spent a lot of time near us wanting attention:

We also found out what they did most of the time while we were gone:

Everyone there commented on how big my belly has gotten since they saw me 3 weeks ago. So we took this set of photos: On the left is other people’s view of my belly. On the right is my view of my belly. It doesn’t look quite as big to me as it looks to others.

Then we said goodbye to Lorna and Grandma Natalie and headed back on the road.

The cats were a little bit more interested in what was going on, so they sat at the front of the carrier and tried to get out. They were fine for most of the ride, but we didn’t give them any food since they didn’t eat any during the move up from Texas, but we found out that Zedd was hungry and he started yowling. We gave him some treats (since that was all I could reach) and he was pretty happy after that.

They did really well once we got them home. They only yowled a little bit after we let them out of their carrier. They are slowly exploring the new house. Poleeko is a lot more interested than Zedd right now it seems. Poleeko wanders all around but keeps coming back to check to see where we are. Zedd, on the other hand, would much rather hang out under the bed until it gets dark and then he comes down and sits on his tree while Darrell and I watch a movie. Today is the first day where he has spent most of it out from under the bed and on a chair next to the window. They are adjusting just fine. 🙂

So that is about it for now. We are happy in our new house and we have a lot of the unpacking done. I will try to get more photos up once we are done unpacking. This is definitely the longest it has taken me to unpack since I moved to college. Usually I am done and pretty set within 5 days. Not being able to lift stuff is really slowing me down. 🙂

So, I posted a while ago about our trip from Texas to Seattle here. These are some photos to go along with that post. 🙂

Day 1 – March 22 – Stayed in Abilene, TX after not getting enough sleep to hit the road safely.

Both cats were unsure of what exactly was going on. Poleeko stayed under the blankets the whole first night and Zedd came out, but needed to be near someone at all times. Darrell got to cuddle with him. 🙂

Day 2 – March 23 – Drove from Abilene, TX to Farmington, NM

The cats weren’t sure about having to stay in their carrier, but they weren’t yowling which was great. We found out that if we left them uncovered, they would yowl, so we took our blanket and covered the cage only looking in occasionally to make sure they were ok.

Duststorm

On the left is the duststorms we had to drive through from just West of Lubbock all the way through Monroe, NM. After Monroe, the dust wasn’t all around, but the wind was still at a hefty speed which made us have to take it slow. On the right is Zedd needing more cuddles after a 12 hour drive in his carrier. I think he just wanted to make sure he was still loved. 🙂

Day 3 – March 24 – Drove from Farmington, NM to Idaho Falls, ID

All we took were a bunch of scenic photos. We drove through a section of Colorado, then crossed through Utah stopping to have dinner with my sister and her boyfriend in Orem, UT and ended up in Idaho for the night. The first photo is of Darrell trying to find Poleeko who crawled under the bed.

Day 4 – March 25 – Idaho Falls, ID to Sandpoint, ID

Today we had our first frost on the window when we left the hotel. Because of the way Idaho is shaped, we crossed into Montana and then back into Idaho. It was our shortest trip at only about 9 hours of driving.

We left the cats in Sandpoint at Grandma Lorna’s cabin so that they weren’t going house to house with us and they were somewhat stable. This is where they spent their 3 weeks:

Then we said goodbye and headed to Seattle

34 Weeks

Week 34

How far along: 34 weeks

Baby’s size: Cantaloupe – Your baby has bulked up like the average cantaloupe — to about 4.75 pounds. Length: almost 18 inches, head to heel

Sleep: I am still tossing and turning all night. It is getting harder to do that so I am ready to finish up the traveling and stay in my own bed for more than a few days.

Maternity Clothes: Yup. Almost down to just dresses fitting.

Food Cravings: None specifically.

Food Aversions: still spicy stuff, but that is about it. Got offered Beef heart stew and just couldn’t try it because I am not a fan of organ meat even when not pregnant.

Symptoms I have: Sore right hip, a very noticeable waddle, hungry all the time.

Doctor’s Appointment: Ultrasound today!!

Movement: Yup. He is definitely a mover. When I am sitting down other people can see him move a bunch.

Belly Button: Hasn’t moved since last week.

Gender: Boy!

What I’m looking forward to: Finishing getting the nursery ready and getting prepped for baby boy to come home.

What I miss: Being able to move stuff on my own without help. Unpacking would be so much easier if I didn’t need Darrell to move the boxes around for me.

33 Weeks

This is posted a little late as we have been busy moving in and we haven’t had a decent internet connection.

Week 33

How far along: 33 weeks

Baby’s size:  Pineapple – Your baby is proportioned like a pineapple when it comes to weight — a little over 4 pounds. (Length: more than 17 inches, head to heel)

Sleep: Sleep has been ok. I have been tossing and turning because I can’t sleep and when I wake up I have been having a sore right hip. It makes those first few steps in the morning a little painful but then it goes away.

Maternity Clothes: Definitely. The jeans I bought are starting to get to tight so I am mostly in my stretchy pants.

Food Cravings: I was craving Chocolate chip cookie dough, so I went ahead and got the ice cream to fulfill that since I can’t quite make my own yet.

Food Aversions: Starting to be able to eat some spicy foods but not all the time.

Symptoms I have: Braxton hicks have been hitting me hard. I also lost some of my mucus plug over the weekend and was put on modified bed rest. Basically take it easy so I don’t go into labor. 🙂

Doctor’s Appointment: Glucose Tolerance test tomorrow. Then our first ultrasound up here next Tuesday.

Movement: Edward moves all the time. I can actually see my belly move when he moves now. It is a little alien like.

Belly Button: Almost level.

Gender: Boy.

What I’m looking forward to: Getting the GT test done with and seeing Edward via ultrasound next week.

What I miss: easily putting on my clothes and being able to tie my own shoes.

32 Weeks

Week 32
How far along: 32 weeks
Baby’s size: Jicama – Your baby is taking up more and more space in your uterus and weighs as much as a large jicama — about 3.75 pounds. (Length: about 16.75 inches, head to heel.)
Sleep: I have my ups and downs. Some nights I sleep really well and others I don’t sleep well at night but I take naps for hours throughout the day. Some days it takes me back to my first trimester when I was exhausted all the time.
Maternity Clothes: Yep. Some of my shirts are starting to get a little short, so I don’t know what I am going to do if my belly grows much more (which is highly likely)
Food Cravings: None this week. I have actually been having a hard time deciding on what to eat.
Food Aversions: Extra spicy. It is starting to get better where I can eat the occasional medium spice, but not yet back to the extent I was beforehand.
Symptoms I have: Having a hard time tying my shoes and putting on socks. I get heartburn occasionally, but Papaya enzymes help with that.
Doctor’s Appointment: Tomorrow afternoon we have our first appointment here in Seattle.
Movement: All the time. I was actually kept up the other night by EJ’s hiccups. It was a different feeling like a really strong heartbeat from the outside.
Belly Button: The inner part is starting to peak and is slowly becoming level.
Gender: Boy!!
What I’m looking forward to: Hearing EJ’s heartbeat tomorrow. Moving into our new place and nesting. And finally, EJ’s birth in about 8 weeks. I am really excited to be this close to the end.
What I miss: All of our stuff. I am so incredibly ready to be settling into a new home and then bringing our kitties home.
