7 Weeks

How far along: 7 weeks

Baby’s size: Blueberry – Your baby, having doubled in size since last week, is as big as a blueberry (about 1/2” in length)

Sleep: Sleep comes and goes. I am up early no matter how early or late I go to bed. I have resorted to occasional naps during the day.

Maternity Clothes: I still fit in my jeans and have been wearing them. The bloat has really gone away, so I am just staying comfortable. I know I will have Darrell pull the maternity clothes out of the attic before the new year.

Food Cravings: No real cravings. I haven’t started eating jars of pickles yet like I did last year, so we shall see when that starts.

Food Aversions: I still can’t eat a lot of sweets and sometimes, the fruit juice I have been drinking makes me nauseous, so I try to limit my intake of those items.

Symptoms I have: I am still tired a lot. Nauseousness is totally an up and down thing. My days of non-puking stopped at 5. :/ But the doctor today gave me some prenatals that should help a little.

Doctor’s Appointment: October 29. We will be going back to Ft. Worth and will be seeing our little sprout again.

Movement: None. But I cannot wait until I can feel Sprout moving. It will really put my mind at ease since Pixel only did a lot of rolling. I am hoping this one is a mover and shaker.

Belly Button: Innie.

Gender: Team Green all the way!

What I’m looking forward to: Getting the NT ultrasound at 12 weeks to make sure there are no neural tube defects noticeable and seeing Sprout in two weeks. (And possibly talking Darrell into a doppler we can use at home to hear Sprout’s heartbeat after about 10 weeks just to ease our minds)

What I miss: Being able to enjoy the pregnancy without feeling anxious. But other than that, I don’t miss anything!

Today was our first ultrasound. It was the first one where we were looking for how many Sprout(s), making sure they were in the right spot and we should have been able to see a heartbeat(s).

I was right!!! We have one little Sprout in the right spot with an amazing heartbeat! We were so happy to see the heartbeat. Just seeing the heartbeat is one huge step since it brings the chance of miscarriage down to 5%. It is still a high percentage for us, but our last pregnancy was only a 1% chance of it happening, so alas. *shrug*

Sprout is measuring 6w5d and we are sitting at 6w6d. So one day behind isn’t that bad at this point because it is really hard to correctly measure something that is only a couple of millimeters long. Sprout has a heartbeat of about 130 beats per minute (bpm). Which is really strong since at this stage they are hoping for between 120-150, but anything over 100 is considered good.

A couple pictures of our barely recognizable Sprout:

The one on the left is of just Sprout. The one on the right is the measurement of Sprout.

This last one is of the measurement of Sprouts heartbeat.

So now we have another 2 week wait before we get to see Sprout again. Next time we see him/her, there will most likely be arm and leg buds visible and the head will have a little more shape. I’m excited. We have probably 2 more appointments with the Fertility clinic before we are released to our OB and Midwife.

By the way – have I mentioned how much we love our clinic? They are so nice and caring. We saw the second doctor today instead of our normal RE. (We have actually had this second doctor this whole procedure) So tonight, around 7:30, our RE calls to tell us that he is excited for us and making sure we didn’t have any questions. He knows about Pixel and just wanted to reassure us that he will be there for us if we ever have any questions to not hesitate to call. This is like the third phone call from him this cycle just checking on us. I do have to say that leaving this clinic will be hard once we finally move back to the West Coast and I hope we will be able to find an RE just as caring.

6 weeks

I didn’t think I would start these updates on here until later in the pregnancy, but I figured why not? 🙂

I look huge compared to last week, but I think a lot of it is bloat. We shall see.

How far along: 6 weeks
Baby’s size: Lentil – Your baby is as long as a lentil (about 1/4 inch).
Sleep: I am still sleeping fine. I am waking up a couple times early in the morning, but it becomes restless sleep until I actually get up. Then I also take naps during the day. I have found that I get to watch things a couple of times because I constantly fall asleep during shows. 🙂
Maternity Clothes: I still fit in my jeans and have been wearing them. They are really tight when I sit down and during certain times of the day. I might actually be back in just my comfy clothes before the 12 week mark.
Food Cravings: We learned that you only crave foods when your body doesn’t have enough of one item. I must be doing a great job on getting what my body needs since I haven’t craved anything.
Food Aversions: It has been weird, but I actually can’t eat a lot of sweets. I tried to eat a small handful of Reeces Pieces, but I couldn’t because they made me sick. So sad. 🙁
Symptoms I have: I am still tired a lot. Getting nauseous, but that has been a lot better recently. I am currently at 4 days of no puking! I am also having a lot of tummy cramps. I know it is just my body adjusting to a growing uterus again, but it still worries me sometimes.
Doctor’s Appointment: Monday! I am really excited for our first ultrasound and picture of our little Sprout. 6 more days!
Movement: None. But I cannot wait until I can feel Sprout moving. It will really put my mind at ease since Pixel only did a lot of rolling. I am hoping this one is a mover and shaker.
Belly Button: Still in, but it won’t take much more until it pops.
Gender: Unknown until birth.
What I’m looking forward to: Ultrasound of our little sprout.
What I miss: Being able to enjoy the pregnancy without feeling anxious. But other than that, I don’t miss anything!

The picture on the right is 5 weeks. The one on the left is 6 weeks. Just so you see what a difference the last 7 days have been. I am hoping that I don’t keep growing at this rate.

I went in this morning for my third and final Blood beta draw. Boy was today a busy day at the hospital. I arrived by 8:00 and there were already like 20 people ahead of me. I think I was there for over an hour.

I was spoiled last week with the beta results being returned fairly quick. 12:30 was the latest I had gotten them. Today, the clock past 1, then 2, then 3, then 4. I was starting to get worried because usually they only call later when they have bad news. Amy finally called around 4:45.

Beta level of 3306. This is a doubling time just over 44 hours. Once again, another awesome number. I was relieved.

So much for trying not to stress to much. 🙂

We scheduled our first ultrasound. We will get to see our little sprout on Monday, October 15 at 11am. I cannot wait. 11 more days!

I am pretty sure that there is just one in there, but nothing is for certain until the ultrasound. We should be able to see sprout’s heartbeat at the appointment.

I am still a little nervous knowing that a lot can happen in the next 7 weeks. We won’t be out of the woods until Sprout is born, but a few steps at a time.

Darrell is still apprehensive and isn’t quite as excited because he doesn’t want to get attached only to have something happen again. We haven’t even talked about nicknames yet. I have started calling baby Sprout. We shall see if it sticks for the pregnancy or not.

Our next milestone is the heartbeat. We will feel a little better knowing there is a heartbeat.

I love it when the results come back really fast. 🙂 I had my blood taken at 9am this morning and Amy called with my results by 10:30 am. Yeah!!!

So my second beta number is 266. Which is a doubling time of 28.57 hours. That is really good since they are looking for it to double every 48 hours.

I am really excited that our numbers are doing so good. They are really strong numbers for a singleton. I just want a healthy baby.

I go back in for another beta next Thursday 10/4 to see how things are doing. After that, we have about 10 days until our ultrasound. The ultrasound will probably be on 10/15. I won’t know for sure until we get our results next week.

So that means, theoretically, we will be able to see our new little sprout in 18 days. We are back to spending our time in approximately two week periods. But it will all be worth it in the end.
